The Witcher: Part One Remake will be an open-world game

CD Projekt has confirmed that The Witcher 1 remake will be an open-world game.

During a presentation this week, the remake was described as a story-focused single-player open-world role-playing game and a modern reimagining of the original (via VGC).

More open than the original

It might not be 100% surprising that they’re going for an open-world structure after the most recently released games, but this is the first official confirmation.

The original was not an open-world role-playing game, but even after the remake was announced, there was speculation as to whether the new edition would follow this path.

More news about The Witcher:

The company announced the remake of The Witcher in October 2022 and said at the time that it would be “created from the ground up” in Unreal Engine 5.

The Polish studio Fool’s Theory is taking care of the development, where several experienced people who participated in the Witcher series work.
