The Witcher Remake: Remake comes in open world format

The developers of the remake of The Witcher are now revealing brand new details about the reboot. This should play in a modern, open world and focus primarily on the story.

While it should come as no surprise to most of the fanbase that the developers are taking a similar path with The Witcher Remake as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, we do get official confirmation that way. However, after last month’s announcement that the first installment in the popular Witcher series could look forward to a “full remake” which is already in the works, this is the only information we have so far.

The only thing we can assume on a technical level is that the new edition will be “built from scratch” in Unreal Engine 5 and that the Polish studio of Fool’s Theory, which includes experienced The Witcher veterans, are still in an early development phase, we also know for sure. CD Projekt Red will continue to enjoy full creative oversight.

CD Projekt Red CEO Adam Badowski also revealed: “The Witcher is where it all started for us, for CD Projekt Red. It was the first game we ever made and it was a big moment for us back then. That one Going back and redeveloping the game so the next generation of players can experience it feels just as big, if not bigger.”

After knowing for some time that the developer wants to provide us with several exciting projects in the coming period, we now also learn what will be new in The Witcher 3 next-gen update.
