The Hoenn Tour will start in Pokémon GO early next year. We’ll tell you why you shouldn’t miss the event and why it’s worth it.

San Francisco – For the players of Pokémon GO there is every reason to be happy: fans will soon have a very special event with the “Hoenn Tour”, which will give them the chance to win rare Pokémon, Shinys and two legendary monsters in their proto form will offer. Whether it’s spawns, habitats or raids – we have all the details and explain why you should definitely take the event with you.

Pokémon GO: Hoenn Tour – Special Research, Proto-Raids and Habitats?

When does the event take place? As already announced by developer Niantic, the Hoenn Tour will take place in spring 2023. The dates are now final. The event is the third of its kind

• Saturday, February 25, 2023 (10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.)
• Sunday, February 26, 2023 (10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.)

What is the special research in the Hoenn Tour? The Hoenn region is the third known region in the Pokémon world after Johto and Kanto. The Hoenn Tour Special Research is all about the Legendary Pokémon introduced there in the third generation.

More specifically, it’s about the background of the red and blue gems (rubies and sapphires) and how they relate to the legendary Pokémon Groudon and Kyoge. It is also about the “protomorphosis”, a new development form of the two legendary monsters. So you’re likely to encounter Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre during the event. According to Niantic, both Pokémon should even appear as Shiny.

What is the medal choice? As with the Johto and Kanto tours, you have a choice of two paths on which to complete the event. Your decision determines what content changes for you. For example, other Pokémon will spawn based on your selection. Developer Niantic wants to announce how the choice of medals will affect it in detail.

What raids will there be? Also new at the event are the proto-raids, about which we unfortunately know little so far. Nevertheless, we have listed all raids that have been officially confirmed so far.

What habitats are there? There will be four habitats in total, with additional challenges for Pokémon to collect. The habitats are: Scorching Sands, Green Earth, Eerie Mist, and Ancient Shore. In each of the habitats you will find different monsters, we will tell you in our overview which Pokémon they are. However, the list is not yet complete, as not all Pokémon are known as of now (November 30, 2022). (* = Shiny Pokemon)

Why is the event worthwhile? The highlight of the event is clearly the encounters with Primal Kyogre and Primal Groudon. They are introduced in this form for the first time in the game and can even appear as Shiny. In addition, the two have incredibly high attack and defense values, which make them the strongest monsters in Pokémon GO.

But even those who have a soft spot for the third Pokémon generation, which appeared with the Ruby and Sapphire editions, can be happy. Finally, there is a big reunion with popular Pokémon from the generation that otherwise appear much less frequently. But not all the details are known yet, so there will still be one or two surprises waiting for us.
