There is still not too much information about the upcoming The Elder Scrolls 6. While we know that the title will probably not be released for PlayStation consoles, the only known thing about the release date is that it will be available at the earliest after the release of the new Fable offshoot will be. While the UK government may have heard of a more precise date, the public at least has to be content with this vague timeframe.
Todd Howard wants Elder Scrolls 6 to come out much earlier
The fact that we have to wait quite a long time for the new Elder Scrolls not only disappoints many players around the world, but also Todd Howard himself, like him in one Podcast Interview explained. When asked if Howard had any update regarding the release timeline of The Elder Scrolls 6 (buy now ) could give, he only answered with “I wish it was soon. I wish it wouldn’t take them so long, but they do.”
Howard is probably not only talking about Elder Scrolls 6, but the development times of Bethesda as a whole. For example, Skyrim was known to have been released in 2011, and fans then had to wait four years for another major release until Fallout 4 celebrated its release in 2015. It continued with Fallout 76 in 2018, three years later, and the upcoming Starfield is scheduled for release in 2023.
“If I could turn back time, it would never have been my plan to wait so long,” Howard recounted the wait between major installments of the Elder Scrolls series. If we expect The Elder Scrolls 6 to be released in 2027, four years after Starfield, then players would have had to wait a full 16 years for a new flagship title in the series.
The Elder Scrolls 6 was originally announced with a short teaser in 2018. Just a few months ago, Bethesda stated that the title was still in pre-production, which is probably not too surprising since the developers are currently focused on Starfield. Once the game is finally released, work on Elder Scrolls 6 will probably only really begin.
