WoW players exploit bug and farm heaps of OP items - Now Blizzard is reacting

Players have discovered how streamers in WoW Dragonflight were consistently killing specific enemies and earning powerful loot – more powerful than is currently available from most activities. The trick has spread, but apparently it wasn’t intended that way. Blizzard has since fixed the bug.

What are these items? Rare opponents (“rare mobs”) have always dropped rare loot in WoW. In the new Dragonflight expansion, however, certain rare and elite opponents have such strong loot that even mythical dungeons become unnecessary.

Some enemies in the open world drop loot with an item level between 372 and 382. For comparison, mythic dungeons, which are one of the best sources of loot at level 70, are fixed at 372 – and much more difficult to master.

The only disadvantage: the loot is random and does not necessarily have to match your character. But the sheer mass of drops certainly had something in store here. A trick has spread on Twitch with which streamers and players have farmed these powerful items in rows (via reddit).

How did players farm them? The mobs in certain areas were apparently buggy. They respawn right back in the same place just moments after being killed.

There was apparently no limit to the loot. Actually, it was probably intended that players could only get loot from opponents once a day. Instead, they dropped powerful gear every time.

In our live ticker we accompany the release of Dragonflight, there you will find all current problems and solutions. There were server problems and more right on the release evening – we were there live:

Blizzard locks loot on rare mobs – Need to fix issue

With a hotfix, Blizzard has generally blocked the loot of corresponding opponents for a few hours. Neither reputation nor other loot was available during this time. By now it should be possible to get corresponding rewards again – probably once a day, as intended.

What exactly happens to players who have exploited the bug is not clear. In the forum and on reddit, the community is discussing whether a warning is really sufficient or whether you should be punished more severely for using an exploit.

Also among the people who have used the “trick” is Asmongold – the biggest WoW streamer on Twitch. He recently returned to his main channel to show Dragonflight:
