Indiana Jones: Lead Designer of The Darkness becomes Design Director

Activision Blizzard: Phil Spencer pleased with acquisition progress

For the new Indiana Jones, MachineGames has brought the lead designer from The Darkness on board as design director.

Wolfenstein developer MachineGames has been tasked with developing a new Indiana Jones video game. As we also already know, the story comes from Todd Howard, who oversees the project and thus fulfills a heart’s desire.

An experienced developer has now been brought on board for the game in Jens Andersson, who will take over the post of design director. Andersson was lead designer for the game The Darkness and lead game programmer for The Chronicles of Riddick. Both from the developer Starbreeze.

He said in a statement about his new role at MachineGames:

  • “I’ve now taken the next big step, which is to join MachineGames as design director for Indiana Jones. This is also a reparation. When I accepted an offer to go to San Francisco in 2009 to oversee development on an Indiana Jones game, the game was canceled before I even got there.”
  • “Now I get a chance to do what I originally hoped to do, but this time I get to do it with some of my oldest and best friends. Joining MachineGames is like coming home – great people I worked with on Riddick and Darkness, but also loads of new ones whose talent blows my mind every day.”
  • “I’m so excited about what we’re building and the way we can do it – starring one of the most iconic characters of all time, in collaboration with my friends at Lucasfilm (hello Craig!), released by one of the greatest Publishers in the world in an amazing studio like MachineGames. That will be something very special.”
