In the strategy RPG “For the King” you embark on a journey to save a kingdom. In rounds you fight with up to two other players against evil creatures and explore the world. The game is doing very well on Steam. A second part has already been announced.
What game is For The King? The game is a strategy role-playing game with RPG and combat elements. It picks up mechanics from tabletop games and is turn-based.

What is For The King about? The king has been murdered by an unknown person and chaos has broken out in the kingdom of Fahrul. Overwhelmed by the crisis situation, the queen asks the population for help to save the country from collapse. Players embark on a journey to end the chaos.

Travel the kingdom in threes and fight strategically
What is the gameplay like in For The King? You set off in a group of three adventurers. You explore the game world with its dungeons, defeat enemies and travel to different cities.
The maps are always regenerated, as are events, missions and loot. This keeps each playthrough interesting and different from the previous one.
You have different types of weapons and classes at your disposal. You can unlock additional items, classes and events during the course of the game, which will make you stronger and better in further game rounds and further expand the experience.
You can play the game in single player mode or with two other people. Each of you takes control of one of the three group members. The co-op mode runs online, but also on the couch.
In the battle, you carry out your actions one after the other using the round system. Strategy is essential and can decide whether you survive or fail. Similar to DnD, the dice are regularly rolled when performing certain actions.
Individual members who die in battle can be brought back using saved lives. If the lives run out and the whole group dies, the game is over.
How do players rate For The King? The players rate the game very positively on Steam. Out of a total of 21,166 reviews, 88% are good (as of December 5, 2022, via Steam).
The co-op mode in particular seems to be fun for the player. Especially for people who like DnD, For The King is recommended as a good digital alternative. As a roguelike, the gameplay is rather demanding and quite difficult even on the “normal” difficulty level.
