Game of the Year 2022? Game Awards viewers vote against Elden Ring
At the Game Awards, it’s in the category “Player’s Voice” reserved for the viewers, above her game of the year vote. In the third and final round are five finalists left free. These are Elden Ring, the cat action-adventure Stray, God of War Ragnarök, Sonic Frontiers and Genshin Impact.
To the surprise of many gamers, the free-2-play JRPG Genshin Impact is apparently unassailable in this vote for Game of the Year. So far, more than 50 percent have voted for the game, which is more than two years old. The blue SEGA hedgehog Sonic raced into second place with over 30 percent. Only in third place is Elden Ring with a meager 8 percent. It’s even worse for God of War Ragnarok. Just 5 percent of fans have so far opted for the Playstation title. A tiny percent goes to the last-placed Stray.
The preliminary result of this fan voting is a little less surprising considering that Genshin Impact was released on almost all platforms including mobile, in the basic version free to play is and about a active player count that even exceeds the sales figures of Elden Ring many times over. the Voting runs until Thursday and is a prime example of why award ceremonies often refer to this verdict of a jury made up of experts.
