The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt: When will the next-gen update come to the Nintendo Switch?

Next week The Witcher 3 next-gen update is slated for release on consoles and PC. But according to new information, the Nintendo Switch is excluded for the time being.

As the developers of CD Projekt Red are now letting through, it will not be available on the Japanese game manufacturer’s handheld hybrid directly at the release date. So, on the Nintendo Switch, we’ll have to be patient for a while before we can get our hands on The Witcher 3’s next-gen update.

The Witcher 3: Next-Gen update on Nintendo Switch has been delayed

As Eurogamer in exchange with CD Projekt Red, there is “no specific release date” for the Nintendo Switch version of the next-gen update of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The only thing we know specifically so far is that it will be released “later than December 14th”.

Developer Ryu Underhill also states that the team is working hard to bring the upgrade to Switch players as soon as possible. More information is expected to be shared with us in the near future.

For the release of the next-gen update of The Witcher 3, however, players should expect the “same fixes and additional content” as they should be on other platforms such as Xbox One or PlayStation 4. Thus, in addition to cloud storage and cross-progression options, the switch is also promised the brand new Netflix DLC, which according to Eurogamer should offer about half an hour of gaming fun.

Switch version has to do without some features

For obvious reasons, the Nintendo Switch version of The Witcher 3’s next-gen iteration makes some sacrifices. Features that offer visual, technical or gameplay improvements are only available on the newer generation platforms.
