“Twitch has lost touch with reality” – Major gambling streamer switches to new competition

Major gambling streamer Trainwreck announced it was switching to a new streaming platform, firing against Twitch in the process.

What Twitch competition is it? The new competition for Twitch is the streaming platform Kick.com.

Like from one TwitLonger emerging from Trainwreck, Kick.com wants to focus more on the needs of creators.

Among the features to be rolled out to the platform in the future is a “95% to 5%” split of subscriber revenue. Additionally, “tips,” which are called “bits” on Twitch and “kicks” on Kick.com, will go 100% to streamers.

On top of that, Trainwreck speaks of an innovative creator program on the part of Kick, where streamers receive a regular income. This income is based on the number of hours watched and the total number of viewers of a streamer.

What does Trainwreck say about Twitch? In his Twitlonger, Trainwreck accuses Twitch of pocketing a large part of the streamers’ earnings, although they make a small contribution in his view:

“Twitch does almost no marketing to streamers, no discovery, and offers limited help in building their business. Streamers are only successful because of the blood, sweat and time they put in. Twitch merely plays the role of a website host. Given their contribution, it is absurd that they withhold 50% of our revenue.”

He also says Twitch has “lost touch with reality.” Twitch is said to have built an empire on the backs of streamers and then forgotten about them.

“At some point, Twitch lost touch with reality. Twitch used to feel like a place made for us and by us. But Twitch built its empire on our backs and then forgot about us. They lost the reason Twitch became #1 in the first place.”

What is Trainwreck aiming for with Kick? As per the Twitlonger, Tranwreck aims to help streamers succeed with Kick “where Twitch has failed them”. To this end, the 31-year-old joins kick.com as a consultant and non-exclusive broadcaster.

Another goal of Trainwreck and Kick.com is to create a streaming platform that is not only for large streamers with paid contracts, but is also aimed at small and medium-sized creators. According to Trainwreck, these are “the foundation and backbone of all live streaming platforms”.

One streaming platform that also attempted to unseat Twitch was Mixer. The extremely successful streamers shroud and Ninja were even secured for this. Already in 2020 Mixer’s efforts ended and the platform was closed.
