Getting bitten in zombie games is usually a pretty bad thing. After all, it means that we become zombies ourselves. Not so in Dead Island 2, here it’s actually pretty useful for us. In a new showcase, the developers presented the shooter in more detail. Not only was there a lot of pretty gory action to see, but there was a kind Infected mechanics.

Namely, we get bitten ourselves in the game and can take on a zombie form for a while. With it we can then simply take other infected people apart with our bare hands. However, the trailer leaves the question open as to whether there are also disadvantages or how our infection affects the story.

This was also seen in the Dead Island 2 showcase

A majority of showcases consists of a live-action trailer. The gameplay trailer with the two playable characters Jacob and Amy actually gives us the most information. This can all be seen in the showcase:

  • Huge weapon selection: There are numerous melee and ranged weapons in the game, including: pipe wrenches, hammers, katanas, swords, baseball bats, bear claws, revolvers or assault rifles.
  • Zombie Form: The zombie form described above can also be seen in the showcase.
  • Weapon Customizations: We can modify our weapons at workbenches, creating something like electrified knives or motorized hammers.
  • Parkour elements: Similar to Dying Light 2, the second part has a lot of parkour with it, with which we can also explore LA over the roofs of the city.

There is, of course, a small drawback for all melee fans: the weapons don’t last forever. Swords, hammers and co. so they break after a while. But that should even contribute to the fun of the game, as the developers explain.

Dead Island 2 was postponed again a few weeks ago and will now be released on April 28, 2023 for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
