Dead Island 2: New gameplay features more of the zombie action

After the release date of Dead Island 2 had to be postponed again recently, there is now positive news again. A new gameplay trailer takes you into the latest version of zombie action.

In about four minutes, the new video presents Dead Island 2 in a short and concise form. The developers make no secret of the fact that a lot of blood will flow in their game – but preferably that of your enemies and not your own. Luckily, there are countless weapons and gadgets ready to keep the undead at bay.

Dead Island 2: Fresh gameplay from undead LA

In Dead Island 2 you land this time in Los Angeles, which is populated by countless zombies, matching the game name. Of course, as one of the few survivors, you don’t feel like it at all and take up arms. A fairly standard package awaits you here: axes, swords, katanas, baseball bats, bear claws or, alternatively, assault rifles, shotguns and other stuff with which you can defend yourself properly.

They are already effective in their basic version, but can become even stronger thanks to modifications as the game progresses. For example, you can electrify your katana to then give zombies an electric shock.

But if all your weapons don’t help and you get bitten, then the game isn’t over immediately. Instead, you can use the bite to your advantage and dish out particularly powerful melee attacks using zombie powers. Whether a bite also leads to disadvantages is not yet entirely clear.

Control with Alexa

In addition to the new gameplay trailer, the developers are introducing the recently announced Alexa function: you can control Dead Island 2 using voice control. So you can special commands to use, to get a specific weapon out of your inventory or to attract zombies. Of course, it remains to be seen how useful all of this is.

But if you’ve gotten the urge to play Dead Island 2 by now, you’ll have to be patient for a few more months. The game will be released on April 28, 2023 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S
