GTA 5: Ray tracing for online mode on PS5 & Xbox Series X – and what about PC?
An update for the online mode of GTA 5 is expected to bring ray tracing reflections to PS5 and Xbox Series X later this year, but the PC will probably be left out.
Developer studio Rockstar Games has announced a new update for GTA Online for December on the official website, which promises various improvements. According to the list of changes, these include ray tracing reflections “on many surfaces in real time” for the next-gen versions of the game released earlier this year on Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X via the “Fidelity Mode” graphics setting.
According to the wording, the unmentioned PC version of GTA 5 or GTA Online does not seem to receive this improvement, since only the newer console versions are mentioned. Presumably, the conversion to PC could also take place at a later date. The screenshot above already offers a taste of the new reflections in the lighting system of GTA Online on PS5 and Xbox Series X.

Also featured is the retro-style GTA Declasse Tahoma Coupe car model, which will be made available to all GTA Online players for a limited time later this month as a reward for completing the in-game Heists Challenge. In addition, there will be various improvements based on player feedback submitted through the official website. Nevertheless, there will be further updates with such improvements in the future.
Released later this December on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC, the update will also bring players to Blaine County as part of a massive, multi-part update. Here’s a trek across the expanse of southern San Andreas with some familiar faces and a new crew of entrepreneurial misfits. In addition, there should also be a fleet of new vehicles, world events, contact missions and much more.
Even more improvements
Rockstar Games also mentions other improvements, including faster access to favorite iFruit contacts in the game, while newly purchased vehicles should arrive in the garage faster than before and bicycles will be added to the list of vehicles that can be requested in the personal garage.
Players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S will also have full access to Hao’s Special Workshops without having to complete Hao’s introductory race. In addition, there should already be a general increase in the GTA$ value of all Shark cards by 20 to 25 percent that are purchased directly in GTA Online or in one of the platform stores.
