The third wave of the Booster Track Pass is available now in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. The update also offers the option of customizing the item selection.

Already announced in December, as with each of the previous track pass DLCs, two fresh cups will be added to the colorful mix of courses: The Rock Cup and the Moon Cup, each with four recurring racing tracks that are already known from previous parts in Mario Kart 8 deluxe.

Among the eight courses being added as part of the Booster Track Pass for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on the Nintendo Switch are some older but also comparatively fresh maps. The range extends from a slope that was already on the Game Boy Advance to several courses from the smartphone offshoot Tour.

In addition to the added tracks, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe gets a feature that passionate fans of the game series have been waiting for for years: the individual selection of the items available in the race.

Free update brings item selection feature to everyone

As the increased fleet isn’t reason enough to be happy, Nintendo is giving Mario Kart 8 Deluxe a free update that will allow “custom items” to be set for certain multiplayer modes in the future. This means we don’t even need the DLC to make customizations to item selection in the future.

If the nasty Blue Shell has always bothered you when you’ve just struggled your way to pole position, you can ban it from the game with immediate effect. Or is it rather the insidious lightning that has turned so many a victory that was believed to be a certainty into a bitter defeat?
