Radeon RX 7900 XT(X): First images of Asrock's custom designs Phantom Gaming and Taichi

from Valentin Sattler
The first images of Asrock’s upcoming custom designs based on the Radeon RX 7900 XT(X) have appeared online. Accordingly, the company wants to bring at least the Phantom Gaming and Taichi series graphics cards onto the market.

Next week the time has finally come: AMD wants to officially launch the Radeon RX 7900 XT and the Radeon RX 7900 XTX on December 13th. According to the current state of knowledge, not only the reference design from AMD should come onto the market at the start, but the first custom models are also planned. At the end of November, for example, Powercolor published a corresponding teaser, and Sapphire surprisingly announced a Vapor X model last week. So far, however, the corresponding teasers have remained rather reserved, official images of entire graphics cards and technical details are rare.

Pictures of the Asrock line-up

Things are very different in the rumor mill: the first official product images are already floating around there. The website Videocardz, for example, recently published images that are supposed to show Asrock’s RX-7900 line-up. Specifically, graphics cards from the Phantom Gaming and Taichi series can be seen, which are expected to be based on both the RX 7900 XT and the RX 7900 XTX. Overall, Asrock is planning at least four custom models.

The illustrated graphics cards of type RX 7900 XTX Phantom Gaming and RX 7900 XT Tai Chi both rely on a cooler with around three slots and three fans. In addition, there are slight changes to the design compared to the existing predecessor models. With both graphics cards, for example, the middle fan is no longer transparent and the Phantom Gaming is now much darker.

Unfortunately, Videocardz doesn’t have too many other details ready for the new Asrock graphics cards. At least the connections can be seen on the product images: Apparently, both models rely on 3x Displayport and 1x HDMI, which means that the USB-C connection of the reference design is omitted. In addition, the PCB should also be adapted with regard to the power supply: at least the Taichi models are said to have three instead of just two eight-pin power plugs. In addition, minor differences between the variant with RX 7900 XT and the variant with RX 7900 XTX are said to be expected in Phantom Gaming. A slightly wider PCB is specifically mentioned here.
