It was time for the Game Awards: More than a decade after the release of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, the shooter finally got its sequel. During the unveiling, a first gameplay trailer was also shown.

For more than eleven years, fans of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine had to be patient and live with a cliffhanger at the end of the game, but at this year’s Game Awards the time had come: With Space Marine 2, the third-person shooter received its long-awaited sequel. During the presentation, a first gameplay trailer was shown, giving a foretaste of the return of Captain Titus, who was demoted to Lieutenant during the events of the first spin-off.

As publisher Focus Entertainment has announced, Saber Interactive will be responsible as the development studio for Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2. Recent projects by the US studio include World War Z, Call of Cthulhu and Vampyr. There has also been a change in voice overs: instead of Mark Strong, Titus is now voiced by Clive Standen, who had his best-known role as Rollo on the Prime Video series Vikings.

At least one rough release window has already been revealed by Focus Entertainment: Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 should appear in 2023. A respective version is in the works for both the PC and the current generation of consoles – the publisher has not yet been able to elicit any more details.
