In the meantime, the XFX Speedster Merc 310 models of the Radeon RX 7900XT(X) have been listed with prices on Amazon. These are well below the Geforce RTX 4080 and relatively close to AMD’s RRP, although they are high-end custom models. Therefore, read below how much money they should actually cost and how much more expensive Nvidia’s RTX 4080 is.
AMD’s new Radeon RX 7900XT(X) models are expected to be launched on Tuesday. The rumors are growing and there is talk of performance above a Geforce RTX 4080 in raster applications. First custom models such as the Asus TUF variants, Powercolor’s Hellhound and Red Devil models, Sapphire’s Nitro+ version and the XFX Speedster Merc 310 cards have already been introduced. Up until now, however, one important detail had always been missing from these ideas: the price. Therefore, it is not yet clear which models are priced close to the MBA cards and which are significantly more expensive.
Radeon RX 7900 XTX: Is there more?
That has now changed with the custom models from XFX. In the meantime, these were listed on Amazon with price and publication date. The latter is no longer a secret, AMD announced December 13th. Listed as release date in many slides. However, the price is quite fair and could become very unpleasant for Nvidia if it ends up in similar regions in the euro area. For example, the XFX Speedster Merc 310 was listed for $979, while the larger RX 7900XTX was on sale for $1,099.
That would put the cards $80 and $100 more expensive than AMD’s MSRP, which is perfectly acceptable for a high-end custom design. Nvidia’s Geforce RTX 4080 in the same listing costs at least $1,489, putting it at least $390 between the big Radeon and Nvidia’s second-largest model. It is not clear to what extent these price differences can be applied to the German market, where prices include VAT, but more information on the two models should be available by Tuesday at the latest, which should simplify the purchase decision for interested players.
