Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2: First raid starts in two days, here are all the info

There are raids in a number of other games, but they are a first for the CoD series.

It has long been clear that Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 would be the first part of the series to get raids, but almost a month and a half after the shooter was released, things are getting serious. Because Activision and Infinity Ward have now announced the release date of the first raid. So it’s time to break down what these raids actually are and what you need to know about them.

Raids in MW2: definition and basics

A Developer blog post entry describes the raids in Modern Warfare 2 as follows:

Important: Since the raids are part of the MW2 multiplayer and not Warzone 2.0, they are NOT Free2Play and freely available.

Atomgrad: Release and information about the first raid in MW2

• Release date: December 14, 2022

The first Modern Warfare 2 raid was announced at the Game Awards with a trailer and already gives a hint of what you can expect from the mission.

In Atomgrad, a flooded factory in Urzikstan seems to have to be infiltrated, because underwater passages can be seen, among other things. Of course, in order to reach the goal, a lot of security guards have to be eliminated, so far there are only rumors about the puzzles. Campaign characters instead of operators: Since the raids are a continuation of the campaign, you don’t seem to slip into the combat suits of the multiplayer operators here, instead there is a reunion with the campaign characters, in the case of Atomgrad with Farah, Gaz and Captain Price – at least that’s what the trailer suggests which you can watch here:

How can I start raids in Modern Warfare 2?

Raids in MW2 cannot be played “just like that”, but require a certain requirement, namely possession of a raid key. Only then will you gain access to Raid mode.

You can get raid keys in three ways:

• Complete a corresponding Daily Challenge in Multiplayer or Spec Ops
• Finish in the top 20 in a Warzone 2.0 Battle Royale playlist
• Get flown out with $30,000 or more in DMZ mode

What rewards do I get for completing raids?

Of course, for completing a raid you will also receive various rewards, which will differ from mission to mission. For the first raid are according to Dexerto the following unlockable goodies confirmed:

Mid-Season Update: Even more new features for Modern Warfare 2

In addition to the raids, various other changes and innovations will also be introduced in Modern Warfare 2 on December 14th. These include, among others:

• New weapon “Chimera”: According to the official description of the CoD blog, the Assault Rifle has an integrated silencer and subsonic projectiles
• “Shipment” multiplayer map: The compact and popular card has already appeared in various CoD parts and will soon also be playable in MW2
• Balancing Adjustments: Traditionally, a major update is also used for weapon balancing adjustments. Here, however, more detailed information must be awaited

The update also delivers new operators like the 141 warhorse Gaz and you can also get ready for a mode, including almost certainly a playlist for the new map Shipment.
