the Game Awards 2022 once again offered many surprises and a lot of announcements, the one exciting future for the gaming scene promise in the coming years. One of the show’s revelations came from Hideo Kojimawhich gives fans a first look at Death Stranding 2 gave. The game director also revealed that the Storyline rewritten for the sequel due to the Covid pandemic was after the original story in his opinion too close to reality came.

Kojima brings back Death Stranding

Hideo Kojima introduced the world to this week Death Stranding sequel under the working title DS2 at the Game Awards. The trailer showed off some characters that will be returning from the first game, including Lou, Sam and fragile. He also gave us a look at new things in the game like an upgraded unicycle, a giant spaceship, and a weird red coffin that’s leaking oil. So very typical Kojima stuff.

Story of Death Stranding 2 became too real

After the unveiling of the trailer, the game director personally stepped onto the Game Awards stage and said a few words about the game. Besides hinting that it’s in the trailer some secrets for fans of the first game to discover, Kojima also revealed that he the entire story of Death Stranding (buy now €13.99 )2 already written before the pandemic broke out in 2020 and decided to rewrite it as a result.

More precisely he said: “Well, I had already written the story before the pandemic, but after experiencing the pandemic, I rewrote the whole story from scratch. I also didn’t want to predict the future anymore, so I rewrote it.”

Considering the issues such as connectedness and a torn worldwhich covers Death Stranding, it’s probably not too surprising that Kojima wanted to change the new story a little since large parts of the world’s population were actually closed off from their fellow human beings.
