Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro presented: The Galaxy S23 rival can do that

offer

Xiaomi presented its new flagship series on Sunday: The Xiaomi 13 and the Xiaomi 13 Pro are among the first smartphones with the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 on board. Another highlight is the camera developed in cooperation with Leica.

Xiaomi is usually one of the first manufacturers to use Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon processors in their smartphones – and that’s the case again this year. Both the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro get loud press release powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and therefore promise top performance in mobile gaming and other tasks. Both smartphones from the Xiaomi 13 series also have a camera developed with Leica on board, offer 50 watt wireless charging, are IP68 certified and support the Wi-Fi 6E standard.

Xiaomi 13 Pro: The top model can do that

The display of the Xiaomi 13 Pro has remained almost unchanged compared to the previous model: like the 12 Pro, it measures 6.73 inches, has a resolution of 1,440 x 3,200 pixels, offers a 120 Hertz refresh rate, supports HDR10+, Dolby Vision and HLG ( hybrid log gamma). It also automatically adjusts the color temperature to the environment.

There is another 50-megapixel triple camera on the back, albeit with a significant upgrade. The 1-inch sensor from Sony has been joined by a Leica lens with an f/1.9 aperture and Hyper-OIS image stabilization. The 50 megapixel telephoto lens now offers a triple zoom and can focus from a distance of 10 centimetres. A 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera is also on board for real macro photos.

The differences between Pro and base model

The slightly cheaper Xiaomi 13 has a slightly smaller 6.39-inch display without a curved design like the Pro model. The resolution is 1,080 x 2,400 pixels, the refresh rate is also 120 Hertz. The 50-megapixel rear camera uses a different sensor for the main lens, measuring 1/1.49 inches. There is also a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 10-megapixel telephoto lens with triple zoom.

The battery capacities are also different: The Xiaomi 13 Pro has a 4,820 mAh battery and can be quickly charged with 120 watts. The Xiaomi 13 has a 4,500mAh battery and supports 67W fast charging.

Colors, prices and availability

The Xiaomi 13 Pro comes in four colors: white, black, green and light blue – with the latter having a leather-like finish. The Xiaomi 13, which is reminiscent of current iPhone models with its flat design, will appear in the standard colors black, white, grey, light green and light blue. In addition, there should be a few particularly eye-catching and gaudy versions in red, yellow, green and blue.

In China, the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro will go on sale from December 14th. Prices start at 3,999 yuan, which is around 550 euros for the Xiaomi 13 with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. The Xiaomi 13 Pro starts at 4,999 yuan (around 680 euros) in the same memory configuration. With 12/512 GB, the top model costs 6,299 yuan or around 860 euros. The international release date and prices for other markets should be announced shortly. The Xiaomi 13 series will probably be available in other countries in the first quarter of 2023 and then compete with the Galaxy S23, for example.
