4Players: Games of the Year 2022: 7th place: Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope

When Mario and his well-known and well-loved entourage meet the completely insane Ubisoft bunnies, massive cuteness alarm threatens. In addition to the warriors already known from the predecessors, there are three new characters who bring further, interesting possibilities for turn-based skirmishes.

The fights convince with fantastic animations and a lot of different tactics, which thanks to the new sparks can be adjusted even more finely to your own playing style or the conditions on the field. Exploring the different game worlds outside of the skirmishes holds many nicely crafted puzzles, rewards, and fun side missions and mini-games. Unfortunately, the latter is repeated a little too often in the course of the game, the fourth time catching fish tears even the most hardened rabbit lover’s patience.

For fans of the predecessor, Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope offers enough new features, but especially players who haven’t seen the first part are sure to get one of the best strategy games available for the Nintendo Switch here.
