Radeon RX 7900 XT(X): Hardly any more goods on the market

from Maximilian Hohm
All Radeon RX 7900 XTX have now been sold and only the Radeon RX 7900 XT is available. So read below why that’s probably the case and where you might stand a chance of buying the cards even below AMD’s official RRP if you’re fast enough.

AMD’s new Radeon RX 7000 graphics cards have been available in stores since yesterday afternoon and offer a lot of (rasterizing) performance for the RRP of 1,049 and 1,149 euros. But as has been known for the last few years, you hardly get any graphics cards for the RRP, most models range in price more or less significantly above AMD’s recommended price. In particular, the Radeon RX 7900 XTX, which was only available from a few retailers including AMD itself for a few minutes at an RRP, is now no longer available at all.

In the PCGH price comparison, those interested in RDNA 3 can currently only find models of the Radeon RX 7900 XT. In contrast to the larger model, this one has less graphics card in every respect and, above all, less graphics card for the money. It has disproportionately less power than the price suggests and has to admit defeat to the Geforce RTX 4080 in terms of rasterizing performance.

However, a particularly interesting source of supply is AMD itself. Both models are or were listed there below their official German RRP. The prices of 1,014.22 and 1,127.37 euros correspond to the RRP converted into US dollars plus the VAT rate. Since the euro exchange rate has risen slightly again in recent weeks, AMD’s pricing is developing positively for German customers.

AMD is now depleted of stocks, but it might be worth waiting for the typical Thursday drop that has already occurred during RDNA 2 Thursday afternoon highs. It is worth checking the website regularly and being quick. All those who do not want to buy a reference model are currently only faced with the choice of which Radeon RX 7900XT it should be. The cheapest in the PCGH price comparison is actually not an MBA card, but the XFX Speedster Merc 310 RX 7900XT, which it from 1,230 euros are. After the initial rush to buy, it could still be worth waiting a bit before making a purchase in order to achieve slightly lower prices and better availability.
