The two largest unions in the US, the AFL-CIO and the CWA, support the merger of Microsoft and Activision Blizzard.

The two largest unions in the US, the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO), with 12.5 million members, and the CWA, with over 800,000 members, support the merger of Microsoft + Activision Blizzard and call for that the takeover will proceed.

AFL-CIO President Liz Shuler has released a statement on the FTC’s decision to appeal the acquisition of Microsoft and Activision Blizzard, and made a strong case for Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard.

In addition one demands that the workers at the negotiating table get attention and demand that the deal between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard is pushed forward.

“It is disappointing that the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is suing to block the deal between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard that would create a stronger company and protect consumers by empowering workers.”

“There are many factors to consider in any merger, but the needs of workers should always be considered. When workers are able to stand together, it creates a culture of control and balance within a company that ultimately benefits consumers and the wider community.”

“The proposed acquisition by Microsoft would give Activision Blizzard workers the freedom to join a union, empowering them to build a stronger company and challenge unethical corporate practices – a win for workers and consumers alike.”

“Any merger has to be judged on its merits and the impact on workers.”

“Despite this action by the FTC, we are confident that a federal judge will side with the Communications Workers of America, the European Commission, and countless other advocates of this agreement to finally give video game workers a chance to improve their lives and create a stronger company by having a union in the workplace.”
