Genshin Impact leak shows new boss in desert and players groan
In January 2023, update 3.4 will come to Genshin Impact. A leak now shows a new boss that will appear in the desert region of Sumeru. And the players are not enthusiastic.
It’s about this boss: On the Chinese side douyin a user published a short leak video about a new boss in Genshin Impact. This boss is said to come into play with Patch 3.4, which is expected to be released in mid-January 2023.

The boss is the “Wind-Bitten Sandworm”, which according to the leak will appear in the desert area of the new Sumeru region. While the monster’s attacks cannot be seen in the video, its movement patterns are all the more evident.
The worm moves beneath the surface of the desert sands and emerges occasionally. This gives the player a short window of opportunity to deal damage before the worm disappears back underground.
There are these reactions: In the comments below the reddit video, the excitement about the new boss is rather limited. The worm reminds many players of the boss Haftvad, which is considered an extremely annoying boss fight.
Once the worm disappears beneath the surface of the earth, it becomes immune to all damage. This leads to frustrating situations like in the leaked video where a full ult attack from Scaramouche misses because the worm dived at the same moment.

The fears that the boss could end up appearing in the Twisting Abyss are particularly strong. When it comes to the challenges there, time plays a major role. It is important to deal a lot of damage and defeat the opponents quickly.
This could become a problem for the new Worm Boss, as he keeps becoming invulnerable by diving underground.
But keep in mind that it’s a leak. The worm is not guaranteed to come into play in this form, if at all.
This is also coming in Update 3.4: In contrast to the worm, 2 new characters have already been confirmed for update 3.4. HoYoverse introduced the Sumeru character Alhaitham during the Game Awards. Also comes the Dendro 4-star character Yaoyao, who comes from Liyue.
The update is expected to be released in mid-January. Fans are guessing it should be January 16th if HoYoverse sticks to the previous release schedule.
