RTX 4090: Alphacool introduces new core series for reference and Founders models
Alphacool has introduced the Core series for the RTX 4090 and announced it for other AMD and Nvidia graphics cards. As a special feature, the terminal and the cooler are milled from one piece of copper, which should significantly increase stability. This week is actually all about AMD’s RDNA 3 models and associated aftermarket cooling solutions, but Alphacool has also introduced new water coolers for the Geforce RTX 4090 with the Core series, which are intended to complement the previous models. The Core series should convince with high quality, excellent performance and a functional design. Compared to the previous Eisblock Aurora models, one central design element in particular has been changed, which makes the Core series stand out.

While the current generation Aurora blocks, whether for AMD or Nvidia, have the connection terminals screwed into the acrylic, the Core series offers a different solution. Not only the copper heat sink of the GPU, but also the connection terminals are milled together from one piece of copper and then chrome-plated. As a result, the core cooler should be particularly resistant and meet high quality standards. The actual threads are made of brass and are a design element that should be present on all models in the Core series.
An adapted black aluminum backplate is used on the back of the graphics card, which is intended to ensure a clear and homogeneous look. Fans of lighting are also taken care of with the core water coolers. They have ARGBs to illuminate the entire water cooler. On the technical side, there is also a reduced fin thickness and spacing, which increases the cooling surface area and optimizes water flow to the core components.
Alphacool has directly announced the core water cooler for other high-end graphics cards from AMD and Nvidia, without giving any more precise data. The coolers for the RTX 4090 reference models and the Founders Edition, on the other hand, are now available in the Alphacool online shop available. Compared to the Eisblock Aurora models, the RRP increases by EUR 40 to EUR 199.98.
