The Addams Family Remake Wednesday is already a huge hit on Netflix
The Netflix streaming service is still one of the big players in the industry and publishes a large number of its own productions on the platform. And even if there are regular total failures like the flopped Resident Evil film adaptation, they still succeed again and again real hits to produce. But very few manage to break the one billion hour mark when it comes to how long the series was streamed in the first 28 days after release. The Addams Family Remake wednesday has managed to become a member of this exclusive club.
Wednesday hits a billion hour mark
In the 28 days, the new Netflix series Wednesday became whole 1.02 billion hours streamed and thus ranks third among the provider’s most successful series launches. Only Stranger things season 4 (1.35 billion hours) and Squid Game (1.65 billion hours) were more successful in the first 28 days, that’s out of one official stats from Netflix out.
What is Wednesday about?
The Netflix series Wednesday is aimed primarily at a younger target audience. So the teenager Wednseday Addams is deported by her parents to the Nevermore boarding school for outsiders or people with special abilities. While she fights the decision tooth and nail at the beginning, she quickly takes a liking to it. That’s mainly because she stumbles upon a mysterious series of murders that has Nevermore and the neighboring village of Jericho in suspense.
The series has already been nominated for several Golden Globe Awards. On the one hand, Wednesday actress Jenna Ortega received a nomination for “Best Actress”, but director Tim Burton is also nominated in the category “Best Musical/Comedy Series”. The actual award ceremony is scheduled to take place on January 11, 2023 in Beverly Hills.
