Activision Blizzard: President and COO Daniel Alegre leaves company

Activision Blizzard: Phil Spencer pleased with acquisition progress

The contract with current Activision Blizzard President and COO Daniel Alegre will be discontinued.

Daniel Alegre will leave Activision Blizzard next year. The current President and COO at the publisher has held the role since 2020.

His current contract expires on March 31, 2023, which apparently will not be renewed. Alegre wants to devote himself to other tasks in the future and become CEO of Yuga Labs.

Activision Blizzard is currently in the proposed acquisition of Microsoft. The Federal Trade Commission blocked these plans in early December.

Alegre’s departure could pre-empt the proposed acquisition. The only executive who has what is known as change-of-control protection is CEO Bobby Kotick. Should this be replaced after the takeover, Kotick would even receive financial compensation.
