Community Poll Results: Are Radeon RX 7900 XT and XTX Too Expensive?

from Thilo Bayer
How do PCGH users rate the prices for the new RDNA 3 graphics cards Radeon RX 7900 XT and XTX? In our survey, there are indications of differences in the evaluation by the community.

At least since the introduction of the high-end versions of the RTX 4000 series, the price of a graphics card has become more important again. But what about AMD’s first two RDNA 3 graphics cards?

The first results of the survey

Overall, the RX 7900 XTX, which is priced at 1,149 euros and is therefore 100 euros higher, actually comes off a little better. According to this, 15.6 percent of the participants have a direct purchase wish, but 14.5 percent would like a (significantly) lower price. 10.9 percent of the participants showed no interest in the 7900 XTX at all. But how much cheaper should the XTX be? At least 5.1 percent see no problem at all with the price, while the largest group demands a discount of at least 300 euros (849 euros). This group is 16.7 percent large. For 6.5 percent the discount should be 100 euros (1,049 euros), for 14.5 percent 200 euros (949 euros) and for 12 percent a whopping 400 euros (749 euros).

The Radeon RX 7900 XT is known to start for 1,049 euros and that is too high for most participants. Only 6.7 percent of the participants have a direct purchase request, which is not even half of the approval that was expressed at the XTX. After all, 13.2 percent would never buy the XT, which is also higher than with its big sister. The largest group demands a discount of 300 euros (749 euros), which is at least 25.9 percent of the participants. 21.3 percent advocate a discount of 200 euros (849 euros), 10.6 percent for 100 euros (949 euros). 4.2 percent see no need for a price adjustment.

In a similar survey on the RTX 4080 15GB, 57 percent of the participants wanted a discount of 500 euros – so the Ada card should actually cost 969 euros. However, it should be noted with this type of survey that most participants would probably like to take a discount on “make a wish” surveys. What is more important is the amount of the discount requested and not the discount request itself.
