God of War Ragnarök Creator Explains: Heimdall is the perfect slap-faced scumbag
Both Kratos and Thor are fed up in Heimdall’s God of War Ragnarök.
If you found Heimdall in God of War Ragnarök really unlikable, then you’re not alone. At the same time, it also means that the Sony Santa Monica studio’s plan worked: the developers did everything they could to make Heimdall as uncomfortable as possible.

That’s what it’s about: In God of War Ragnarok we have to deal with Heimdall and this guy is really unbearable. In an extensive interview, game director Eric Williams now explains that the character was developed this way on purpose.

No inspiration, a concept: When asked if there was anyone like Heimdall who inspired him, the director replies with a resounding no. Heimdall is about bundling everything that bothers people about other people.

Eric Williams goes on to say that the so with all gods through the two new God of War games. The abilities are always the biggest problem of the gods, as with Baldur. Heimdall always knows what the people around him are actually after and there are very few who have no ulterior motives.
The result is a character specially designed to be pissed off. A character who only serves as a projection screen and to be consciously hated or despised.
You probably know some other characters from games, films, books or series where this is the case. For example, we immediately think of it Micah Bell out Red Dead Redemption 2 or Joffrey from Game of Thrones.
