WoW: Community Council – apply now for 2023! But be prepared to hate
When Blizzard officials announced the Community Council last year to improve communication with World of Warcraft players, many players were skeptical: is this really more than just a marketing gimmick, a PR stunt? A few weeks later, however, we had to admit to ourselves: The developers seem to be serious.
Again and again they spoke up in the Community Council area of the WoW forum to comment on the questions or feedback from the council members or to join the discussion. The “Blues” sometimes formulated their answers in an unusually open way. And this willingness has by no means died away over time. On the contrary: two weeks ago, for example, there was a dev chat with the Community Council in which it about the second phase of Wrath of the Lich King Classic.
Applications for 2023 are running!
Since membership in the Community Council is only valid for twelve months, Blizzard officials now have one new application form for the coming year 2023 released. The form says: “This program brings together gamers of all types to provide feedback on various aspects of World of Warcraft (buy now )to deliver, which can then be discussed and shared with the WoW developers.
Selected council members will have access to a public forum on the World of Warcraft website, as well as private discussion channels with other council members.“
Current Council members who are approaching the end of the 12 months may reapply but will not receive preferential treatment. However, it may be that few Council members will heed that call again. Maizou speaks in the official forum issued a warning: Those who are active outside the Council area in the forum must be prepared for abusive posts and harassment on a daily basis.
“People seem to think it’s okay to take their anger at Blizzard out on you when you’re not involved, and think that because your text is gold, you’re not allowed to have an opinion on anything when they disagree with their opinion.”
If you still want to apply, take Maizou’s advice to heart: When Blizzard officials ask which character you want to use to represent the community, choose an unknown twink that you’re never online with. So you can at least avoid the constant hostilities in the game.
