WoW: Transmogrification – Limitless Character Customization
Until the introduction of transmogrification in World of Warcraft Cataclysm you had almost no design options for your hero’s outfit. The best you could hope for was completing one of the popular raid sets such as the Tier 2 Paladin or Tier 6 Warrior sets, though the fun ended abruptly once you outgrew your stat gear. In addition, there were some classic highlights such as engineering glasses or a rare wolf helmet, which could be used to spice up the character. That should finally change in December 2010. In this special we show you what is currently possible with transmogrification!
What is transmogrification?

transmogrification (commonly referred to as Transmog, Tmog, Xmog, or simply Mog) provides the ability to change the appearance of your armor and weapons with the appearance of other items, or to hide certain armor pieces.
When a player earns or equips an item allowed for their class, the item’s appearance becomes theirs Template Collection added. Valid items whose appearance the player has not yet collected will be highlighted in their tooltips. All soulbound items are automatically added to the player’s transmog collection, as are all rewards from completed quests, even if the player did not select that reward when completing the quest.
By visiting special Transmog NPCs in the capital (or the NPC on the Large expeditionary yak) allows players to browse all available transmogs for any currently equipped item and replace its appearance with the selected transmog. Transmogrifying an item costs a variable amount of gold, but can be undone for free. Hiding armor is also free.
Transmogrification has a number of limitations, and not all items or pairings can be transmogrified. Most importantly, the character must be able to equip both items, the armor must be of the same armor type, and the weapons must be the same attack style use.

Subject to certain restrictions, gear from almost any source can be used to transmogrify, such as world drops, quest rewards, badge vendors, or crafting.
Collecting outfits is a good reason to farm old content like raids from previous expansions. World events often grant special items intended for transmogs, as well as various features like professions. The auction house is also a good source, although coveted items can fetch very high prices.
For the dungeon sets 1 and 2 from “Vanilla” WoW (buy now ), which are no longer available, you can purchase replicas from vendors at the Darkmoon Faire. These items have been specifically implemented into the game for transmogrification.

On Transmogrification Set or transmog set, categorized as “vanity” set in English, is a group of items of the same armor type, designed in the same visual style, and containing at least two armor slots. As a rule, they have a uniform appearance, so they are often collected only for this purpose. These sets are not to be confused with armor sets, which grant set bonuses when multiple pieces are worn together.
However, “transmog set” can also refer to any group of items that a player has transmogrified their gear into. This can range from an actual cosmetic set specially designed by Blizzard artists, a mix of individually chosen items, or a simple grab bag of favorite items with little regard for consistency.
Ready-made sets are out, individuality is in!

As beautiful as many dungeon or raid sets are as transmogs, they still have the image of ready-made clothing. The real fashionistas in WoW put their hands on when creating their transmog sets and spare neither time nor expense to get exactly the parts that result in the desired look.
As an example of custom outfits, the author introduces you to one of his favorite mogs, a troll shaman with lots of witch doctor mojo. In addition, the outfit should contain references to all the main antagonists in WoW – a kind of trophy collection, so to speak, similar to what witch doctors carry around in the form of shrunken heads: Undead Scourge, Burning Legion, Naga, Old Gods. To complete this mix, typical voodoo accessories have been added: altars and candles. Since its release in 2010, the transmog feature has received numerous enhancements; if you want to see the complete update list, find it here on the Wowpedia wiki. Today, transmogrification leaves little to be desired, but there is one little thing with great potential that was previously missing: Mogging with white and gray items. This will be officially introduced with the Dragonflight patch 10.0.5, as the developers announced in the official forum. And not only that: with the new feature trading post two brand new transmog outfits come into play, which are all about the legendary guardian Maiev Schattensang – two matching night saber mounts included!
