PlayStation 5: DualSense Edge with less battery life

Activision Blizzard: Phil Spencer pleased with acquisition progress

SONY has announced that the DualSense Edge will have less battery life than the base DualSense model.

On January 26, 2023, SONY will release the DualSense Edge, its almost €240 counterpart to the Xbox Elite Controller. Similar to the Microsoft controller, the SONY counterpart also has a range of customization options and extra features.

However, those features also result in a slightly shorter battery life than the average seven to eight hours of the base DualSense model, SONY said in a statement The Verge announces.

“The operating time of the DualSense Edge wireless controller is shorter than that of the original DualSense wireless controller because we have packed many more features into the same form factor and ergonomic design as the original DualSense controller. We wanted to strike a good balance between wireless uptime and delivering robust, powerful features. Furthermore, the longer braided USB cable is also suitable for competitive gamers who prefer a wired connection to avoid interference – this option saves battery life.”
