Lost Ark: Amazon Games banned numerous players with inactive accounts

Many players now associate Smilegate’s MMORPG Lost Ark with an immense number of bot accounts that are up to mischief in the world of Arkesia. Publisher Amazon Games has therefore carried out some ban waves in the past and tightened numerous systems to defend against the bots. Such a wave of bans was carried out just a few days ago, but this time Amazon apparently overdid it a little.

Amazon Games gives bans to users with inactive Lost Ark accounts

As the publisher explains on the game’s official forums, the number of concurrent users in Lost Ark’s Steam stats (buy now €19.99 ) quite dropped. This is due to the suspension of a significant number of bot accounts, for which Amazon Games “has used new and extremely effective methods to identify and remove bots from the game.”

However, these “extremely effective methods” have not only caught bots, but also a large number of players who have simply not logged into the game for some time. User accounts that were banned by this wave of bans were not automatically banned by Valve’s anti-cheat a game ban. This system allows developers to deploy their own systems to “detect and permanently ban disruptive players and cheaters from the game”.

For some time, these game bans have also been visible on affected players’ Steam profiles. So, on the profile of users who were banned due to their inactive account, it is now for all the world to see that they received a ban in the MMORPG. Understandably, these users are far from happy with the situation, so are they recent reviews on Steam has since dropped to “mostly negative”. In their reviews, some users write that they haven’t started Lost Ark for several months and have now received a publicly visible ban.
