Ash could finally get his first legendary Pokémon in the Pokémon anime

In his 25-year, 1,000-plus episode career, Ash has never owned a Legendary Pokémon of his own in the Pokémon anime. Although he has made acquaintance and even friendship with some of them, he has never caught any. That could change now at the end of his long journey.

Spoiler alert: The following article contains content spoilers for new episodes of the Pokémon anime.

Ash gains a new legendary friend

The 11-episode mini-series “Aim to be a Pokémon Master” has been running in Japan since January 13, 2023. In it, we say a fitting farewell to series protagonist Ash, while he revisits numerous well-known locations and characters together with his trusty Pikachu. A trailer has already revealed a reunion with Misty and Rocko. But one or the other new acquaintance is probably part of it.

In the very first episode of the new series, Ash meets a Latias. The legendary third generation Pokémon has not yet appeared in the anime series, but has a role in the Pokémon Heroes movie. Accordingly, Ash also recognizes the legendary Pokémon when he finds it injured in a lake in the new episode.

After patching up Latias and helping him escape from Team Rocket, the two go their separate ways by the end of the episode – at least as far as Ash knows. Namely, Latias secretly decides to follow the trainer after turning invisible.

While Ash doesn’t know how lucky he is just yet, it seems like Latias is getting a bigger role in the mini-series. It wouldn’t be the first time Ash has befriended a legendary Pokemon. He also has a close bond with Tobutz and Solgaleo. However, he has never caught a legendary Pokémon himself. Maybe that could change now?!

Unfortunately, it is not known when the two anime series will make it to us in Germany. As soon as we have initial information on this, we will let you know.
