Production of the PSVR2 headset for PlayStation 5 has been cut in half due to disappointing pre-orders and interest.

In February, Sony will launch the successor to its PlayStation VR virtual reality headset for the PlayStation 5.

However, interest in the device appears to be far less than Sony had anticipated.

Sony planned to ship two million units in the device’s launch quarter.

As Bloomberg writes, a supplier of Sony display panels has been informed of a reduced order quantity. Sony also reportedly aims to ship just 1.5 million units for the full year, a significant drop from previous forecasts.

The price of PSVR2 should also not be insignificant. After all, the device will cost €599.99 without games when it launches on February 22nd.
