Sobering E3 2023 rumour: Sony, Xbox and Nintendo are probably all missing

E3 is supposed to celebrate its big comeback this year, but it will probably have to do without Nintendo, Xbox and Sony.

E3 2023 is back in Los Angeles and could bring back the glory of previous trade show events. The emphasis here is on “could” – because according to a report by IGN, neither Nintendo nor Xbox will be exhibiting at the fair and Sony is still conspicuous with its absence. There still seems to be some ambiguity surrounding the event, which is said to be related to the new event company and the organizer ESA.

E3 2023 will reportedly take place without Nintendo, Xbox and Sony

The good news first: In 2023 there will be another real E3 trade fair in Los Angeles. With show floors that are open to a wide audience and everything that goes with it. This is especially special because there hasn’t been a regular E3 on-site since the start of the 2020 coronavirus pandemic.

The bad news is: Apparently not only Sony and thus PlayStation, but also Nintendo and Microsoft are staying away from the fair this year. This is not particularly surprising for Sony, because the group has been doing it this way for a long time, but the other two large companies still had their own stands.

Where is the rumor coming from? from IGN. In a detailed report, the serious and renowned site refers to various sources, according to which all three major video game names will not come to E3 2023. A number of analysts have also taken the same line and believe that Sony, Nintendo and Xbox will not be involved.

The same report also goes into detail that the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) is now working with a company called ReedPop to be responsible for hosting E3 2023. But according to some sources, there may be information delays and communication difficulties.

Xbox holds its own show in the E3 period, Sony and Nintendo probably live streams

Microsoft As in previous years, it’s also hosting its own major Xbox showcase, taking place around the same time as E3 2023 in Los Angeles. It should be easily accessible for E3 visitors and the press and should also be timed to coincide with E3.

Nintendo probably still counts on holding its own Nintendo Direct shows. They can be pre-produced and then streamed without any public traffic. But if the publisher and hardware manufacturer really doesn’t have an E3 stand, that would definitely be a novelty.
