Sony has halved its launch projections for the upcoming PlayStation VR2, according to a new report.
The Bloomberg websiteciting “people familiar with Sony’s deliberations”claims that Sony had previously aimed to produce 2 million PlayStation VR2 units during the launch quarter of the new peripheral.
However, it appears that low pre-order numbers have changed this, Bloomberg sources say Sony’s production forecasts have been halved to just one million this quarter.
According to the report, Sony has told a vendor partner to expect a reduction in the number of display panel orders and expects to ship around 1.5 million headphones in the 11 months between April 2023 and March 2024.
PlayStation VR2 will launch on February 22 and will be priced at $549.99. For this, players get the PS VR2 headset, PS VR2 Sense controllers, and stereo headsets.
