The Last of Us series: This is how you can watch the 1st episode on YouTube without a Sky subscription

If you just want to try episode 1, you can do that with a trick on YouTube.

If you want to see the HBO series adaptation of The Last of Us in Germany, you need a Wow subscription. This streaming service is the successor to Sky Ticket. Are you unsure whether you want to subscribe to the series because you may already be using other streaming services? Then you now have the opportunity to watch the first episode on YouTube to see how much you like the adaptation. Just click on the video, but it doesn’t work in Germany. We’ll tell you how to do it.

You can find the particularly long pilot episode, in which the story of the end times begins, quite legally on the Sky TV YouTube channel. However, when you click on the link provided in this country, you get the message: “Video not available”. The episode is not offered in Germany, but only in Great Britain.

Here’s how you can still see them: To still be able to watch them, you need a VPN (Virtual Private Network) service that establishes an encrypted connection to a British VPN server. This allows you to bypass the regional restriction, as your actual location and IP will be obscured. Since the first episode is actually only intended for Great Britain, it is therefore only available in English. The already mentioned Wow subscription is required for the German version.

However, if you understand English well or like to watch in English, you have a good opportunity to test the series and its mood for yourself before you subscribe to the streaming service.
