Readers help decide: Which mainboards are the most exciting? AM5 with A620 versus 1700 with Z790

from Torsten Vogel
We make PCGH for PCGH readers. But what do they actually want to read? In particular, the generation change in processors and thus also mainboards currently raises the question of which test objects are the most exciting.

Falling CPU and DDR5 prices and the introduction of the somewhat cheaper Ryzen-7000-without-X have heralded the upheaval at AMD: Buying a new AM4 system is hardly worthwhile, the socket AM5 is all the more exciting and of course requires suitable mainboards. With currently four I/O hub/chipset variations, AMD does not necessarily make the selection easy and a fifth offer could soon be added. Intel also recently introduced two more Socket 1700 PCHs, in addition to a total of six existing offerings. PCGH’s task is of course to bring clarity to this chaos, but we too have only limited capacities – and therefore ask the question: where should we start? Which mainboard comparison tests are currently the most popular? Detailed information on the respective platforms can be found in our purchase advice for AMD and Intel mainboards.
