The developer of the increasingly controversial The Day Before has finally released a gameplay video as promised, a week after it was delayed in what some perceived as suspicious circumstances.

Developer Fntastic delayed the second most wanted game on Steam by eight months last week, after what it claimed was a surprise copyright claim on the game’s name.

This statement came hours after the studio said The Day Before’s Steam page had disappeared due to a breach. “minor technical difficulty”.

Fantastic claimed that a “raw gameplay video” that had been promised for some time had also been delayed. However, following criticism from fans, who hadn’t seen significant gameplay footage since 2021, even weeks before its supposed release date, the video was finally posted.

The Day Before is an “open-world survival MMO set in a deadly, post-pandemic America overrun by flesh-hungry infected and survivors who kill each other for food,” according to its currently inactive Steam page.

Fntastic says the game has been in development for more than four years, though the studio drew criticism when it emerged that the game is largely being developed by volunteers.
