The Elder Scrolls Online: The Boss announces it will solve the biggest problem for European players on PC and PS5

The European mega server (EU PC) has been causing problems in The Elder Scrolls Online for a long time. Players cannot enter the game and disconnects occur. The ZeniMax Online studio boss is now promising a remedy.

There have been problems with the ESO servers for quite some time. These are expressed through failed connection attempts or disconnections. Especially when the rush is big and in PVP the servers go limp.

It is therefore not surprising that the community has been complaining about the poor hardware performance for a long time. There were always lags in big events and also in PVP and that caused a lot of frustration. Better performance is therefore also on the MeinMMO wish list for ESO in 2023.

The developers have responded to feedback from the community and promised last year to modernize the hardware. This should make the servers more stable again. Due to delivery problems, however, the campaign had to be postponed further. in one community update Studio boss Matt Firor now spoke about the specific schedule.

New hardware coming in April

What was announced? In a post on the ESO Forums on January 30, 2023, Matt Firor spoke about the upcoming hardware change and gave details on the exact timing. Due to logistical problems, the studio had to postpone the start of the campaign by 1-2 weeks. In order to make the hardware exchange as efficient as possible, the event calendar will also be adjusted.

A date in early March was originally planned. The delay in logistics is now causing the hardware replacement date to overlap with the launch of ESO Update 37. Therefore, the developers chose a slightly later point in time. The hardware replacement for the PlayStation EU server should take place shortly after the update for EU PC. In preparation, there will be maintenance for all EU realms on February 7th.

During the actual hardware replacement, the servers are then shut down for around 14 hours. However, the time span can vary, so there will be another community update. This will announce the day on which the exchange will take place and when the servers will be available again.

Which events will be postponed? In order to make the hardware replacement as efficient as possible, the developers are pushing some events back. For example, the Whitestrake’s Mayhem event should only take place after the hardware swap is complete. Nevertheless, Firor promises that 2 Whitestrake’s Mayhem events will take place in 2023 as planned. So that you don’t miss an event, we have an ESO event ticker for you.

So that players can still collect event tickets as usual, fragments from the first quarter will also be available in the second quarter (April to June). This change allows players to collect all cosmetics and event items as before. The total number of event tickets is not affected by the postponements. There will also be the opportunity to collect fragments at the New Life Festival at the end of the year.
