Ark 2: Release postponed to 2023 – Ark: Survival Evolved for free this week on Steam
Ark in Unreal Engine 5.1: True to the original, authentic, yet impressive
The recreation of Ark’s island map in Unreal Engine 5.1 comes from hobbyist developer and Youtuber Greg Coulthard. Although it is only a fan replica, it looks very true to the original. In the three recently released videos we see other areas of the island that have not yet been shown as well as the hunter’s lair. While it’s only a proof-of-concept, the videos give an idea of how a remaster of Ark: Survival Evolved would look like
could look like in Epic’s new engine. And although this is all just the work of a single artist, the results are more than impressive. Who knows what an entire studio could achieve if they remastered the game with Unreal Engine 5.1.
The Unreal Engine is constantly being developed at Epic Games and is now at version number 5.1. During development, Epic was particularly important to be able to create open worlds perfectly. That would be of particular importance for a remaster of Ark with the Unreal Engine 5.1. But UE5 will also find use in Ark 2, the sequel.
