Smilegate announces the closure of the game CrossfireX this coming May

the developer Smilegate has announced the impending shutdown of CrossfireX, its year-old Xbox multiplayer shooter, which will shut down on May 18, a move that will also affect its Remedy-developed single-player campaign.

CrossfireX, the console version of Smilegate’s hugely popular PC shooter Crossfire, launched for Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S last February, combining the multiplayer component of the PC original with a specially developed single player campaign.

Just over a year after that troubled launch, Smilegate has announced that it will soon stop supporting the game. “We deeply regret to inform you of our decision to end support for CrossfireX on May 18, 2023”he wrote in a statement on his website.

“Since the game’s launch, we’ve worked tirelessly to bring it to a point we can all be proud of, and throughout the process we’ve had the honor and pleasure of supporting our players.”.
