OddBallers Review

OddBallers Review

Multiplayer party games are a bit scarce these days, except for Mario Party Superstars which released in 2021, I don’t really have games in the genre on my mind. However, to make up for this absence in the industry, Ubisoft brings us to OddBallers. It is a multiplayer title based on the Dodgeball or Burnt (depending on the country) game, which can be enjoyed both online and locally.

Let’s play the burned

oddballers It consists of several minigames, in which the main theme is to throw balls with different objectives depending on the mode we are playing, but basically it is to eliminate opponents. The controls are simple: one button to throw the ball, another to dodge/block or push, they are very intuitive and easy to master. In each fight, the players have a life bar that will decrease as we receive attacks, either from balls or from traps.

Once in matter, we can create our avatar in a simple character creator. It can be customized with many cosmetic options such as caps, glasses, gloves, etc. In addition, we can add emojis, gestures, and even victory dances. Also, we have a store where you can buy more accessories with two types of currency.

The scenarios have different themes apart from environmental traps such as hives or TNT boxes, which can either help us or work against us. Thanks to this, many funny and comical situations can occur if we know how to use the environment to our advantage.

By participating in each confrontation, we will gain experience to level up, which implies unlocking new accessories and rewards. Progressing through each level grants perks like free access to hundreds of customization features like outfits, haircuts, emojis, dance moves, and more.

game modes

OddBallers Review

In oddballers There are several quite varied game modes that never get boring. Depending on the chosen mode, the contests will be more or less short. In general, the main objective is to eliminate opponents by throwing balls, however some will have the task of surviving for a while, throwing animals into shredders, shearing sheep, defeating bosses, etc.

  • All against all
  • one against all
  • Team Battle
  • boss battle

Other modes are Last Man Standing, Loot Collection, Pet, Soccer, Survive an Erupting Volcano. Basically, to win, anything is a weapon that can be used to take out opponents. In addition, the use of environmental traps gives the game a very fun strategic component: bombs, mailboxes, chickens, fresh vegetables, gas canisters.

Each of the minigames are changing and are played randomly with unique rules and features. In fact, you can change some of the rules of the game on the fly. In addition, we can play multiplayer, either local or online for up to six players. If we don’t have friends, we can choose the AI, which is quite competent.

OddBallers Review

The graphic section of OddBallers is simple, with a Cell-Shading tone that fits the premise of the game. Really, it is not to show off power since the game adjusts very well to all platforms. However, it suffers from some minor glitches (some minor) like slowdowns, stutters and some lag, but also freezes, login failures, inconsistent display.

Verdict

OddBallers is a fun game if we like to have a good time with friends. Without great pretensions, the title offers a series of very interesting dodgeball-based minigames. With a simple premise and controls, any player can get to the fun it offers. Although the game suffers from minor graphical glitches that can be resolved with a patch, in addition to the low availability of online players.
