Players are already playing Wild Hearts - 3 things they praise and one thing that annoys them

The new hunting game Wild Hearts (PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S) will not actually be released until February 16, 2023. But if you subscribe to EA Play, you can already play a limited demo. Many fans do exactly that – and are enthusiastic. Nevertheless, there are a few points of criticism.

How are people playing? Before the actual release on February 16th (February 17th for consoles), there is already a demo of Wild Hearts that you can play for 10 hours. However, you must have a subscription to EA Play or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

In our guide we explain how to play the Wild Hearts demo.

In these 10 hours, the first of the 21 monsters in total are already available in the game and, if you use EA Play Pro, even a whole piece of the story after the first fights.

Many interested people and fans of Monster Hunter have already viewed Wild Hearts and fully exploited the 10 hours. Most voices are positive, although one thing in particular keeps coming up that urgently needs to be fixed.

Wild Hearts is a new game from EA and Koei Tecmo, a studio little known in the west but who created popular games with Dynasty Warriors. In the video we explain everything you need to know about Wild Hearts:

Combat and construction are top – performance suffers

The players praise: In the Wild Hearts subreddit there are several threads dealing with the demo. In most of these, players praise various aspects of Wild Hearts. The most common are:

  • the combat system: combat feels fluid and the fights are harder than expected
  • the construction system: Karakuri are not just a “Fortnite” knockoff or a gimmick, but a feature that makes Wild Hearts unique
  • Co-op: Playing Wild Hearts with 1-2 other friends is fun and the story continues seamlessly when you get to a point you’ve already reached

Especially the Karakuri are a surprise for many players. The system didn’t really sit well with Mosnter Hunter fans: during battles you build boxes, springs and more to enable or dodge special attacks.

The building system sets Wild Hearts apart from other hunting games and, according to the demo players, brings depth to the game, especially since you learn new buildings directly in combat. That provides motivation.

A player who claims to have sunk 2,000 hours into Monster Hinter World praises further points to Wild Hearts (via reddit):

  • the choice of weapons
  • Eating and building can be done “on the side” and almost anytime
  • immersive and lovable world

One enemy you won’t encounter in the demo without EA Play Pro is a giant stone bear. If you still want to see him, you can find the creature here in the trailer:

What is not so well received? Despite all the positive voices, there are also some points of criticism. According to many players, the biggest thing is the performance, which our readers here on MeinMMO also repeatedly complain about.

There are still a few bugs, the graphics are not always pretty on weaker systems and consoles, and sound bugs in particular clearly cloud the gaming experience. However, not all players are affected by these issues.

Fans are now hoping that the bugs will be fixed by Friday’s release. Most of them have already arrived and been recorded in the support forum. Since it is only a matter of small things, the players are in good spirits here.

What players praise and criticize in the demo corresponds almost entirely to my impressions that I was able to collect in Early Access before the release. You can find my detailed first impression here:

Wild Hearts is the game for everyone who feels a void after the Elden Ring – you don’t die that often either
