Hogwarts Legacy developers make sobering comments about possible DLCs

Don't expect Hogwarts Legacy DLC anytime soon.

Don’t expect Hogwarts Legacy DLC anytime soon.

Hogwarts Legacy was released last week and not only has a lot of tasks and secrets to offer in the magic school that gives it its name, but also in the surrounding area. Very few people are likely to be really bored at the moment, but the question of possible DLCs already arises – after all, many elements such as Quidditch are suitable for this.

And it is precisely those DLCs that the developers of Avalanche Games have now been asked about. At the current IGN Fan Fest, the question of the current expansion plans for Hogwarts Legacy came up.

And the somewhat sobering answer:

“The studio currently has no plans to release additional content for its Wizarding World RPG.”

A little word gives hope

So if you were already hoping for additional content for Hogwarts Legacy that would be released soon, you might be disappointed. Of course, the statement is not a complete rejection of DLCs. Because the developers use the word deliberately “current”to keep all options open for the future. So even if there shouldn’t be any expansions for the game in the next few months, that doesn’t necessarily mean that there will be late 2023 or early 2024.

Especially since the first sales figures already show that Hogwarts Legacy seems to be a real success. According to GamesIndustry.biz’ Chris Dring, the title had its biggest European launch since Red Dead Redemption 2 outside of FIFA and Call of Duty (via VGC). So it’s quite possible that many players will have seen everything in the coming months and will be hungry for new fodder for the Hogwarts game.

JK Rowling’s transphobia: The success of Hogwarts Legacy indirectly benefits Harry Potter author JK Rowling, who participates through existing publishing rights and the associated sale of the books. Rowling continues to be active in anti-LGBTQIA+ rhetoric and actively supports anti-trans policies in the UK. Hogwarts Legacy: It won’t get boring at first

But as already mentioned: Even without DLCs, there is enough to do and discover in the magic school and its surroundings. Around 33 Demiguise statues are waiting to be discovered, there are various curses to be learned or keys to be found. If you need help with these tasks, we can recommend our guides.

Hogwarts Legacy will be available on February 10, 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. The versions for PS4 and Xbox One will not appear until the beginning of April, and the implementation for the Nintendo Switch is even longer in the future. You can only move into Hogwarts there from the end of July. And who knows: Maybe there will be better news about possible DLCs by then.
