Buy graphics card: RX 7900 XT cheaper, unfortunately also price increases – Radeon market overview

An AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT is used in the PCGH Advisor PC 2500 Edition.

In December, the Radeon RX 7000 series debuted with the first Radeon RX 7900 XTX and 7900 XT models. Its strength is the high rasterizing performance per euro, but Nvidia currently has a comfortable lead when it comes to ray tracing. While the Radeon RX 7900 XTX can compete with the Geforce RTX 4070 Ti, there is no opponent for the Geforce RTX 4090 and 4080 with ray tracing. While the said Geforce RTX 4070 Ti with 12 GiByte graphics memory sometimes reaches its limits, as our Hogwarts Legacy technology test has shown, for example, the RDNA 3 cards published so far are exemplary in this respect: The Radeon is at 24 GiByte RX 7900 XTX on par with the much more expensive Geforce RTX 4090, the RX 7900 XT even offers more memory than the more expensive Geforce RTX 4080. PC gamers are currently waiting for the mid-range RDNA 3 graphics cards: the Radeon RX 7600 (XT ) should be released in the first half of the year, after which Radeon RX 7700 XT and RX 7800 XT are expected. This article isn’t about the new models yet, as we’re just going to take a look at the prices of the already released Radeon graphics cards.

Radeon graphics card price history: split picture

Both the Radeon RX 7900 XT and the RX 7900 XTX are now available significantly below the RRP, which was not the case after the launch, especially with the top model. Dealers are currently asking 899 euros for the smaller RDNA 3 card and 1,118 euros for the flagship. For comparison: The official AMD prices for the launch were 1,049 and 1,149 euros. Since the most recent Radeon market overview here two weeks ago, the prices of some models have changed on a larger scale. Price reductions for the Radeon 6650 XT (-16 euros), 6800 XT (-19 euros) and 7900 XT (-10 euros) are positive. We observed a particularly sharp drop in price for the Radeon 6900 XT at -120 euros. But that’s more because the card was absurdly expensive 14 days ago, namely more expensive than the RX 6950 XT and almost at the 7900 XT level. The price of the RX 6900 XT is now between the RX 6800 XT and RX 6950 XT, as expected. However, we also observed price increases for a number of Radeon RX 6000 cards: The RX 6500 XT went up by 12 euros, the Radeon RX 6600 XT by 22 euros. With the Radeon RX 6800 we registered the largest price increase of +30 euros. The former top model RX 6950 XT is currently 10 euros more expensive than two weeks ago. Absurd: The RX 6650 XT is currently cheaper than the RX 6600 XT.
