Pokemon Go counter guide: Broadside Rayquaza – definitely grab it!
Update from February 22, 2023: Rayquaza is back in Pokémon Go’s Tier 5 Raids, and he’s also learning the Broadside attack for the first time since the game launched. Theoretically, this does not seem necessarily stronger than a tantrum, but it is very worthwhile in PvE environments if you are not a fan of dodging the boss’s attacks in raid battles. We have the 15 currently most effective counters for the fight against Rayquaza for you, if you also want to grab the Mon as Shiny! remember that the Pokémon Go Tour Hoenn: Global is coming up!

Original message: Trainers will soon be able to take on a new legendary Pokémon in Pokémon GO: the dragon/flying monster Rayquaza. Rayquaza is a tier 5 raid boss with 49,808 life points and 2,102 to 2,191 catch CP at level 20. The Pokémon benefits from windy weather, which its Catch CP at level 25 from 2627 to 2739 increased, and his attacks in battle strengthened. Defeating Rayquaza requires a total of two to four high-level trainers, or five to twenty low-level trainers. So that your next raid fight will be a success, we have you based on a guide from Pokemon Go Hub put together a set of tips.
Rayquaza uses the following possible attacks in battle according to its dragon/flying type:
– Dragon Tail (Dragon Type, Instant Attack)
– air cut (Type Flight, Instant Attack)
– tantrum (Dragon type, Charged Attack)
– aero ace (Type Flight, Charged Attack)
– antique force (Rock-type, Charged Attack)
Because Rayquaza doesn’t have any overly dangerous charged attacks other than Enrage, battling the legendary Pokémon is relatively easy. As a counter-Pokémon against Rayquaza, you mainly rely on Ice, Fairy, Dragon and Rock Pokemon, which have the most effective attacks against the legendary Tier 5 boss. However, since tantrum is Rayquaza’s strongest and most dangerous attack, it is better not to use dragons as attackers, since there are now much more useful ice attackers. The following Pokémon with the corresponding attacks are primarily worthwhile here:
– mamuttel with powder snow and avalanche
– glaciola with ice breath and avalanche
– Snibunna with Ice Shards and Avalanche
– mewtwo with Psycho Blade and Ice Beam
– Rossana with ice breath and avalanche
Other useful counters you can use to fill gaps in your attacking team:
– arctic with ice breath and ice beam
– emissions with ice breath and avalanche
– Regice with Ice Breath and Blizzard
– Walraisa with Ice Breath and Blizzard
– lapras with ice breath and ice beam
– snow gate with ice breath and avalanche
– dragonite with dragon rod and tantrum
– Porygon Z with charging beam and blizzard
– Frosdedje with powder snow and avalanche
– despotary with catapult and stone edge
– Rayquaza with dragon rod and tantrum
Because Rayquaza has a double weakness against ice attacks, it is best to use a team of Mamutel and Snibunna or Glaziola in the raid to finish off the boss as quickly and easily as possible. As usual, you can read more current news and tips about Pokémon GO on our Pokémon GO topic page.
