Twitch streamers Emiru and Asmongold have shared their stories about why they started their streaming careers.

The YouTube and Twitch creator spaces have always been very diverse. There are millions of YouTube channels with more than 1000 subscribers, from educational channels to gaming, niche hobby sharing or tutorials.

And with each channel comes a unique story of how and why they achieved success that became a new career path for many of those creators.

During the latest episode of the Steak and Eggs podcast with tectona, asmongold and emiru explained what was the reason they started streaming on Twitch.

While there’s more to unpack there, the most basic motivator for both content creators has been making money.

Emiru and Asmongold “without irony” began broadcasting for money

It should come as no surprise, but when someone chooses a career path for themselves, they are usually motivated by a combination of interest, ability, and possibly most importantly, salary. This is pretty much what Asmongold and Emiru confirmed about their streaming careers.

“I started Twitch because I wanted money,” Asmongold explained bluntly. “No irony, that’s why I started streaming, I was making some money on Youtube but, man, ‘we really need to start making more money here’ and I started streaming on Twitch, and that’s how it happened.”

Emiru tells a similar story about the origins of his content creation, but adds some details that better explain the circumstances.

“For me, it was more or less the same because I was playing LoL a lot and also wanted a job at the time,” Emiru explains. “My friend said to me ‘why don’t you play LoL on Twitch? Some people get hundreds or thousands of dollars in donations’, and then I mean it worked.”

While streaming and content creation often mix a career and a hobby into one thing, at the end of the day it’s a career, so it’s no surprise that money earned becomes a huge motivating factor.
