595 hours gone – Pokémon Crimson/Crimson players lose save files after patch 1.2.0
Some Pokémon fans complain online that they have lost their Crimson/Crimson saves.
Anyone who spends a long time in a game is particularly annoyed about the loss of the saved game. Especially if this savegame is not simply deleted by mistake, but by a patch. At least that’s what seems to have happened to several Pokémon Crimson and Crimson players. They now warn against installing Update 1.2.0.
Pokémon fans are losing savegames, apparently due to patch 1.2.0
What’s the matter? Pokémon Crimson and Crimson not only received a DLC announcement for Pokémon Day, but also a new patch with the number 1.2.0. It brings some Quality of Life improvements and bug fixes, but unfortunately no performance improvements:
Does the patch make saved games disappear? In addition to Crimson and Purple’s ongoing technical difficulties, it seems that another problem has arisen. There are several comments on Reddit from people who seem to have lost their savegames after installing the latest update.
Almost 600 hours away: This is particularly bitter in this case. Redditor Matthewcbayer claims to be one of a dozen people on the relevant subreddit alone who have experienced this. In his case, a 595 hour savegame would have had to believe it.
Why is this happening? It’s impossible to say for sure at the moment. It could possibly not only be due to the patch, but also to the newly introduced function: Pokémon crimson and purple can now be included Pokemon GO connect.
Data was lost shortly after the two games were linked. Quitting Crimson right after the link might also be related. Unfortunately, what exactly triggers the loss and why it happens to some and not to others remains unclear at the moment.
But apparently there is at least a risk and the author of the contribution wants to warn against this. Some other Pokémon Crimson and Crimson players report that they just installed the update and didn’t connect to Pokémon GO – but still lost their data.

You can do this: Unfortunately, a Nintendo Switch Online subscription will not help you in this case. The game doesn’t support the Switch’s Cloud Save feature.
There is also at least an option to load a backup save from within the game (assuming you can get into it). This is usually done with the key combination up, B and X if you press the buttons at the same time.
Did you also lose saves after the patch for Pokémon Crimson and Crimson? What else could help?
